DESCRIPTION:Algorithmic Listening Party\nFriday 30. April 2026\nEntropia e.
	V. Steinstraße 23\, 76133 Karlsruhe\n\nPeople have danced to algorithms th
roughout history\, including the Ancient\nGreeks. Epiploke is such an algo
rithm\, evident in fragments of Ancient Greek\ntexts\, where metrical shor
t-long structure is shifted in patterns. In this\nworkshop run by Lucy and
Alex who perform together as the band Epiploke\, we will\nexplore differe
nt musical patterns by listening to and manipulating simple code\nexamples
in the free\, web-based Strudel software. This will include polymetrical\
nstructures\, euclidian rhythms\, South Indian konnakol and bharatanatyam
rhythms\,\nancient greek hexameters\, and other strange patterns. The aim
will be to\nunderstand algorithmic music with a focus on listening to patt
erns rather than\nunderstanding them as code. \n\nThe workshop is aimed at
anyone curious about the stranger side of musical\npatterns. You do not n
eed any experience in music or coding\, and people who feel\nlike 'imposte
rs' are especially welcomed to join. If you are new to live coding\nyou wi
ll hopefully leave motivated to learn more. If you have live coded before\
nyou will hopefully leave with new understanding of your practice.  \n\nAl
so joining the evening are artists Janani Suresh Ram\, Froos and pastagang
	\, and\nthe locals elmo and grainn.\n\n18:00–19:30 Algorithmic patterns -
