SUMMARY:Benoit Baudry: Amplifying Diversity in Code and Execution | Convers
	ations on Art and Media
DTSTAMP:20260506T110622Z
DTSTART:20250626T180000Z
DESCRIPTION:Benoit Baudry (Université de Montréal) on the topic of Amplifyi
ng Diversity in\nCode and Execution:\n\nEconomy\, interoperability or effi
ciency are strong forces that steer software\nsystems towards limited dive
rsity and great monocultures. This is not good for\nthe reliability\, secu
rity and sustainability of these systems. In this talk we\nexplore differe
nt ways in which software can be diversified again.\n\nConversations on Ar
t and Media is a new lecture series with invited guests from\nthe expanded
fields of media art and theory\, co-organized by members of HfG\nKarlsruh
e and ZKM. During summer semester 2025\, the series discusses\nunconventio
nal conceptions and materializations of computers as well as\nalternative
ways of dealing with them. In the light of the quasi-monopoly of big\ntech
companies and in view of powerful presets and standards\, guest lectures
and\nconversations will address the questions: To what extent can computer
s look or\nfunction differently? In which ways can we reflect on\, perceiv
e or handle\ncomputing devices differently or change them?\n\nConcept: Vic
tor Fancelli Capdevila (HfG)\, Julia Ihls (HfG)\, Tina Lorenz (ZKM)\,\nLea
Luka Sikau (ZKM)\, Nina Zschocke (HfG).
