After their acclaimed\nperformances mining stories and pleasant i sland\, Silke Huysmans and Hannes\nDereere present the final part of their trilogy on mining. This time they focus\non a completely new industry: de ep sea mining. With resources on land becoming\nincreasingly scarce and ov erexploited\, mining companies turn towards the ocean.\n \n\nIn the Spring of 2021\, three ships gather on a remote patch of the Pacific\nOcean. One of them belongs to the Belgian dredging company DEME-GSR. Four\nkilometre s below the sea surface\, their mining robot is scraping the seabed in\nse arch of metals. On another ship\, an international team of marine biologis ts\nand geologists keep a close watch on the operation. A third ship compl etes the\nfleet: on board of the illustrious Rainbow Warrior\, Greenpeace activists protest\nagainst this potential future industry.
