DESCRIPTION:This talk is a counter-tour through the development of Computer
Aided Design\n(CAD)\, tracing a few of programs\, practices and protagoni
sts who aren't usually\nincluded in its history. We'll take a look at earl
y programs which allowed\narchitectural researchers to DISCOURSE\, SEEK an
d INTERACT with their computers.\nWe'll look at some "turnkey" systems\, l
ike CADDS and GDS\, and their unique input\ndevices. We'll follow the high
way-based git system which helped programmers at\nAutodesk develop its lev
	iathan\, AutoCAD. And we'll get up close and personal\nwith ARMILLA 4\, a
unique CAD package developed here at the KIT. At a moment when\ndesign sof
tware is increasingly platformised and enclosed\, these examples might\nhe
lp us to think together about other kinds of technological practices for\n
design. Before and after the talk there will be opportunities to take a lo
ok at\nsome archival material from the ARMILLA project including publicati
	ons\, video\ndemos and some source code.\n\nExhibition starts at 18:00.\n\
nTalk starts at 20:00\n\nMore about our open session format: https://entro
