Diversity, Visions, Filmmaking – The INDEPENDENT DAYS Celebrate International Indie Cinema!
From April 9 to 13, 2025, it’s time to say “Action!” again at the INDEPENDENT DAYS | 24th International Film Festival Karlsruhe. With 128 films from 32 countries, the festival provides a unique platform for independent filmmakers, showcasing an impressive variety of cinematic works – from innovative short films and gripping feature films to moving documentaries and extraordinary mid-length films.
The INDEPENDENT DAYS have established themselves as one of the most important platforms for indie filmmakers. This year’s program focuses on international diversity and powerful themes – ranging from socio-political issues and personal fates to fantastic and futuristic visions.
A special highlight of the festival is the grand Award Gala on Saturday evening, where prizes worth a total of €13,000 will be awarded. In addition to film screenings, the festival offers a comprehensive supporting program featuring workshops, lectures, and networking events. Particularly popular are the Filmmakers’ Speed Dating, where creatives can make new connections in short conversation rounds, and CineMeet, a get-together with industry professionals.
The INDEPENDENT DAYS take place at Schauburg Karlsruhe, with parts of the supporting program—such as lectures and workshops—hosted at the Badische Landesbibliothek.

Vielfalt, Visionen, Filmkunst – Die INDEPENDENT DAYS feiern das internationale Indie-Kino!
Vom 9. bis 13. April 2025 heißt es wieder „Film ab!“ bei den INDEPENDENT DAYS | 24. Internationale Filmfestspiele Karlsruhe. Mit 128 Filmen aus 32 Ländern bietet das Festival ein einzigartiges Forum für unabhängige Filmschaffende und präsentiert eine beeindruckende Vielfalt an cineastischen Werken – von innovativen Kurzfilmen über packende Spielfilme bis hin zu bewegenden Dokumentationen und außergewöhnlichen mittellangen Filmen.
Die INDEPENDENT DAYS haben sich als eine der wichtigsten Plattformen für Indie-Filmemacherinnen und Filmemacher etabliert. Das diesjährige Programm setzt auf internationale Vielfalt und starke Themen – von gesellschaftspolitischen Fragen über persönliche Schicksale bis hin zu fantastischen und futuristischen Visionen.
Ein besonderes Highlight des Festivals ist die große Award Gala am Samstagabend, bei der Preise im Gesamtwert von 13.000 Euro verliehen werden. Neben den Filmvorführungen bietet das Festival ein umfangreiches Rahmenprogramm mit Workshops, Vorträgen und Networking-Events. Besonders beliebt sind das Filmmakers’ Speed Dating, bei dem Filmschaffende in kurzen Gesprächsrunden kreative Verbindungen knüpfen können, sowie das CineMeet, ein Get-together mit Vertreterinnen und Vertretern der Filmbranche.
Die INDEPENDENT DAYS finden in der Schauburg Karlsruhe statt. Teile des Rahmenprogramms, darunter Vorträge und Workshops, werden in der Badischen Landesbibliothek angeboten.
